After taking the Element on rough, remote roads through Alaska and northern Canada, we decided to tackle part of Canyonlands' White Rim Trail.
Suited only for off-road vehicles, the entire 100-mile White Rim Trail typically takes two to three days and winds through the canyons below Island in the Sky. Since we only had a day to explore the area, we drove from Island in the Sky down the canyonside until we reached the Potash Road turn off where we slowly made our way back to Moab.
With harrowing turns on a road cut into the side of the canyon, this day trip is not for the faint of heart. The off roading also proved to be more than we bargained for: only a few miles from town a rough jerky section of Potash Road jostled the car so much that it broke the entire roof rack from the top of the car.
Luckily we have no regrets and photographed plenty of beautiful vistas to make it worth our while!
